At the end of 2005, Inside Magazine conducted a survey of expatriates and locals based over the whole of Switzerland and Swiss living abroad. From this, we understand that our reader profile is separated into 3 constituents:

1. The Core Market

Consists of ABC 1 international women and men aged between 26 and 45. These people are resident in Switzerland for up to 10 years or more. They are highly educated, high earners (most individuals earn over CHF 100,000 a year) with high expectations of life and career goals.

2. The Swiss Market

The Swiss who use English daily account for 300'000 people within Switzerland (again, ABC 1's). They are Swiss who use the language professionally or socially, either because they work in an international field or because they lived abroad at one stage. Additionally, increasingly many Swiss use English to communicate with other Swiss who might not be fluent in the same mother tongue (e.g. Swiss German to French and vice versa). Many of our respondents want to improve their English skills while being entertained by our lively mix of topics.  

3. The Swiss Expatriate Market

Swiss expatriates (again, ABC1's) account for more than half a million people spread across the world to date. They consider themselves Swiss, yet they have no particular language affiliation and, by default, use English. They feel they have Swiss roots and want to know what's happening in Switzerland.
